With the tournament to commence in just 10 days, Sydney Uni have named their 35-man squad who will compete with the best university rugby teams from each continent.

The World University Rugby Invitational began in 2015 at Oxford University, and occurs once every four years, coinciding with the Rugby World Cup.

The University of Sydney enters the competition for the first time, after taking out the 2019 Shute Shield in a back-to-back title victory. Sydney Uni is a rugby powerhouse, with the Women’s team also securing the 2019 Jack Scott Cup, their fourth premiership in the past five years.

Sydney Uni will compete against hosts Waseda University, 2015 champions the University of Cape Town, Oxford University, the University of British Columbia, New Zealand Universities, Siberian Federal University, and the University of Bordeaux.

The tournament begins with the opening ceremony on 16 September.
